System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems
Below is a list of platforms that NetBeans Profiler 5.5.1 has been tested on:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
- Solaris operating system (SPARC® and x64 Platform Editions) version 10
- Mac OS X 10.4.5 PPC
- Red Hat Fedora Core 3
NetBeans Profiler 5.5.1 generally runs on the following platforms:
- Microsoft Windows Vista
- Microsoft Windows x86/x64
- Solaris™ SPARC® and x86/x64 Platform Edition)
- Mac OS X PPC/Intel
- Various Linux x86/x64 distributions (Intel architecture)
Required Software
The following software must be installed before you install and use NetBeans Profiler 5.5.1:
- NetBeans IDE 5.5.1
- One of the following Java Platforms:
- Sun JDK 1.5.0_04 and above x32/x64 (1.5.0_09 and above is recommended)
- Sun JDK 1.6.0 b26 and above x32/x64
- Apple J2SE 5.0 Release 3 and above
Note: To use NetBeans Profiler to profile JDK 1.4.2-based applications which cannot be run using JDK 1.5.0 and above, a customized JFluid VM based on standard JDK 1.4.2 VM is available. Note that this platform has been discontinued and we no longer provide support for it.

Limitations
Limitations of NetBeans Profiler 5.5.1 are as follows:
- Issue 71792: Objects created using reflection are not handled by the Profiler.
Known Issues
Note: Refer to NetBeans™ IDE 5.5 Release Notes for the list of issues specific to the IDE.
Major unresolved issues for this release are as follows:
- Issue 86436
Description: On Mac OS X the Profiler installer fails with NullPointerException when running on JDK 1.6.
Workaround: Start the installer with JDK 1.5.
